Like many other social media platforms you may well have heard of Pinterest but are not sure how to use it and how it might benefit your business. Here are a few pointers to give you a better understanding.
Pinterest is in effect an online pin board. If you are familiar with mood boards then it’s similar to one of those. You register an account and then Pinterest drops a ‘pin’ into your tool bar which you can use to pick up content and add to your online pin board. You can set up a number of different pin boards so that the content is relevant for each. You may want to set up a board for holidays and the various destinations you’d like to go to or you might enjoy photography and decide to pin images that you like. There are infinite topics for your pin board; your wedding file, cars you like, sports teams, haircuts, house decorations, food and recipes, your business sector, marketing ideas!
Pinterest is another helpful tool for a business to build credibility, add value and demonstrate its values and understanding of any given area. For example a restaurant might decide to have a Pinterest board and pin all sorts of different recipes and other restaurants it likes the look of. Potential customers will be inspired by the content that this restaurant posts and ‘pins’ and be more inclined to reserve a table.
Another benefit that Pinterest offers is increased backlinks to your website, although these are nofollow links they do offer some benefit to improve your search engine ranking and increase the visibility of your site. And of course along with your other social media it gives you another touch point to engage your audience.
